Maharashtra Faces Heavy Rains, CM Fadnavis Reviews Relief Measures and Directs Officials for Immediate Action

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reviewed the flood and rain situation in Marathwada and Solapur districts. During the meeting, he instructed officials to intensify efforts at the ground level. He also emphasized that proper arrangements for food, water, and health facilities must be ensured in relief camps.

Heavy Rainfall Creates Crisis in Maharashtra

Continuous rainfall for the past two days has caused severe disruption in Maharashtra. Mumbai and nearby districts witnessed torrential rains since late Saturday night, which further worsened the situation for residents. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has been closely monitoring the condition and maintaining regular contact with district collectors regarding rainfall and flood updates.

CM Reviews Situation in Marathwada and Solapur

On Sunday, September 28, CM Fadnavis conducted a review of rainfall and relief operations in eight districts of Marathwada along with Solapur. He discussed the condition of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Hingoli, Jalna, Latur, Nanded, Dharashiv, Parbhani, and Solapur. The Chief Minister instructed officials to accelerate ground-level efforts and ensure the affected population receives timely support.

Instructions for Relief Camps and Fodder Supply

During the review, CM directed officials to provide proper arrangements for food, clean drinking water, and healthcare services in all relief camps. He also ordered immediate supply of fodder for animals in districts facing shortages. Highlighting the rising water discharge from dams due to heavy rainfall, he urged authorities to focus on evacuating people from sensitive areas in advance.

Relief Measures and CMO Statement

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) released a statement on Sunday confirming that food, water, and healthcare facilities must remain adequate in every relief camp. CM Fadnavis stressed, “All officials should stay present in affected regions and closely monitor relief and rescue operations.” Taking note of reports of fodder shortage, he also ordered prompt arrangements for livestock feed.

Review of Water Discharge from Dams

The CM examined the water release situation across major dams in the state and instructed the Water Resources Department to coordinate with local administrations while maintaining strict alertness. According to the CMO, people who have already been shifted to relief shelters will remain there until conditions improve.

IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Warning

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for several districts across Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Konkan until September 30. Authorities have been advised to stay prepared for further emergencies.

District-Wise Updates on Situation

Solapur District: Rescue teams have saved 4,002 people so far, while 6,500 have been shifted to relief camps. Food, drinking water, and healthcare arrangements are in place. The administration distributed 10 kg rice, 10 kg wheat, and immediate financial aid of ₹10,000 to affected families.

Beed District: Communication with Wadwani tehsil is disrupted. NDRF and Army units have been deployed. Around 2,567 families have been displaced, and 10 people lost their lives. Eight families have received financial compensation.

Jalna District: Heavy rainfall affected 26 circles, and 225 people were safely evacuated. Since June, nine deaths have been reported, with seven families receiving financial support.

Latur District: Over 500 people from Ahmedpur, Udgir, and nearby areas were rescued and shifted to relief shelters. Around 60 roads and bridges were submerged, but transport has now resumed.

Parbhani District: Heavy rains on September 23–24 cut off 36 villages. A total of 1,386 people were shifted to safer places, while six deaths were reported. Families received assistance, and 203 houses suffered damage.

Hingoli District: Damage was reported in 23 circles. Ten villages lost connectivity, and relief worth ₹231.27 crore is being processed. Thirteen deaths occurred, with families provided financial help.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District: The district received 818.5 mm rainfall against a normal of 581.7 mm. Excess rainfall hit 68 circles, damaging 133 permanent and 291 temporary houses. Citizens in Paithan were moved to schools and community halls.

Dharashiv District: Six villages lost road connectivity, while 3,615 people were relocated to safe shelters. Around 88 houses collapsed, and immediate assistance is being delivered.

CM Directs Strict Monitoring of Relief Efforts

CM Fadnavis has instructed all district collectors and administrative officers to remain on the ground and personally oversee relief and rescue operations. He emphasized that citizens must receive essential assistance without delay, ensuring food, water, medical aid, and shelter are provided effectively.
