
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Cai Qi, secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) secretariat, on Sunday to discuss ways to enhance India-China cooperation, with an emphasis on deepening political engagement. Earlier, Modi held bilateral discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin.

During his meeting with President Xi Jinping, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to advancing India-China relations on the foundations of mutual trust, respect, and sensitivity. He also expressed gratitude for the warm reception and congratulated China on successfully chairing the SCO.
President Xi emphasized the value of India-China friendship, describing it as the “right choice” for both nations. He added that the partnership between the “dragon and elephant” fosters mutual growth and success.
Following the summit, Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong tweeted, expressing his honor at attending the bilateral meeting between President Xi Jinping and PM Modi on the sidelines of the SCO summit.
