Fatalities Confirmed After Temple Stampede
At least 10 people died in a stampede at the Venkateswara Swamy Temple. This tragic event happened on Saturday (November 1, 2025). Many others also suffered serious injuries. The stampede was caused by an enormous rush of devotees. They were visiting the temple for Kartik Ekadashi. The Srikakulam stampede has shocked the entire state.
Disturbing Scenes Emerge on Social Media
Several distressing visuals and videos of the incident site surfaced online. They show the absolute horror of the event. People were seen jammed between railings in the temple’s narrow passage. They desperately tried to flee to save their lives. Many women with puja baskets were screaming for help. Injured victims were quickly moved into ambulances. They needed immediate care at nearby hospitals.
Prime Minister Modi Expresses Deep Sorrow
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was deeply saddened by the Srikakulam stampede. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) released an official statement. He said, “I am extremely distressed by this horrific accident.” He offered his condolences to all affected families. “My sympathies are with those who lost their loved ones.” He also prayed for the swift recovery of all the injured people.
The Prime Minister also announced financial aid. Families of the deceased will receive ₹2 lakh from the PMNRF. Additionally, the injured will be granted ₹50,000.
Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu Conveys Grief
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his deep sorrow. He posted his message on the social media platform X. He called the stampede at Kasibugga’s Venkateswara Temple “extremely sad.” He described the devotees’ deaths as “heartbreaking.” The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure prompt and proper medical care for the injured.
