A significant claim about Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor is circulating. It is certain to become a major political issue in the Bihar election. Reports allege that Prashant Kishor holds two voter identity cards. His name is reportedly on the voter list in Bihar and West Bengal.

This situation has caused a political uproar before the Bihar election. Amidst this, the Jan Suraaj party is now issuing a clarification. Jan Suraaj released a statement. It said an application was already submitted to cancel Prashant Kishor’s West Bengal voter ID. The process, however, is not yet complete.

PK Added Name During 2021 Bengal Elections

Jan Suraaj spokesperson Saurabh Singh addressed this issue. He stated that this information was not publicly known. However, PK was working for the Bengal elections until 2021. This fact is known to everyone. The Election Commission (EC) provision allows people to vote even when working away from their state. You can add your name to that state’s voter list. Therefore, Prashant Kishor’s name is on the Bengal voter list.

Saurabh Singh claimed Prashant Kishor returned to Bihar in 2022. He then requested the EC to remove his name from the Bengal list. He asked them to include it in Bihar. The application was submitted then. It is a different matter if the EC has not completed the work. This certainly can be a matter for discussion.

Why Didn’t Prashant Kishor Raise This During SIR?

A question arises now. An Intensive Review (SIR) of voter lists occurred recently across Bihar. A completely new voter list was prepared. Why did Prashant Kishor not bring this up with the EC then? In response, Saurabh Singh said PK did not need to raise the matter again. He had already applied earlier. He was simply waiting for the process to conclude.

What Action Will the Election Commission Take?

The emergence of two voter IDs will naturally raise questions about Prashant Kishor. The first phase of voting in the Bihar Assembly election is a week away. This claim related to Prashant Kishor thus becomes more crucial.

Election Commission sources say the matter is under investigation. Further action will be decided based on this probe. A notice may be issued to PK, asking for his response.

Many Leaders Have Faced Similar Allegations

Claims of dual voter identity cards have surfaced against several leaders before Prashant Kishor. Prominent names like Tejashwi Yadav, Vijay Kumar Sinha, and Pawan Khera are included.
