Tension is escalating within Maharashtra’s Mahayuti alliance. Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde was again absent from a key state government program. The specific reason for his absence is still unknown.

Cracks in Maharashtra’s ruling Mahayuti coalition are now quite visible. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and several of his Shiv Sena leaders are reportedly upset with the BJP. This discontent became clear on Tuesday, November 18. Not a single Shiv Sena minister attended the Fadnavis cabinet meeting then. Only Eknath Shinde showed up for it. However, later that evening, CM Fadnavis and the Shiv Sena ministers announced a resolution. They stated that the issues were solved and the anger was gone. Despite this public statement, a fresh incident today highlights the growing rift between the two parties.
Deputy CM Eknath Shinde did not attend a state government function today. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar were on the stage. However, Eknath Shinde was noticeably absent from the event. The reason for the Shiv Sena chief’s absence from the stage is unclear. However, two consecutive days of similar actions by the Shiv Sena leader are raising serious questions.
What Happened Earlier Between Shiv Sena and BJP?
Shiv Sena ministers were unhappy about an ongoing issue. Several of their party leaders and workers were reportedly planning to join the BJP. They expressed strong displeasure regarding this move. They complained that the BJP was poaching Shiv Sena workers. This was happening despite them being alliance partners. Following the cabinet meeting, the ministers met CM Fadnavis. They presented their concerns to him directly.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis responded to the complaint. He pointed out that the Shiv Sena started this practice in Ulhasnagar. He stated that it’s unfair to call it right for Shiv Sena but wrong for the BJP. Following this discussion, both parties reached an agreement. They decided both will follow the alliance rules in the Mahayuti. They promised not to induct each other’s leaders or workers.
The situation appeared normal after both parties offered assurances. Still, Eknath Shinde’s absence today beside Devendra Fadnavis raises doubts. It makes people question if any underlying resentment still remains in the Shiv Sena.
