Prashant Kishor challenges Nitish Kumar to sack Samrat Choudhary
Prashant Kishor accused Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary of using a fake age certificate to escape a 1995 murder case.

Jan Suraaj Party leader Prashant Kishor on Monday directly challenged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to dismiss and arrest Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary. Kishor alleged that Choudhary escaped trial in a 1995 murder case by submitting a forged age certificate before the Supreme Court, which wrongly identified him as a minor. He added that Choudhary’s own 2020 election affidavit contradicts the claim by stating he was 26 years old at that time.

Kishor claimed Choudhary was spared trial as the law barred proceedings against juveniles.

Kishor repeats accusations in public and media

Speaking at a press conference, Kishor repeated the charges he has raised multiple times in television debates and interviews over the past weeks. He stressed that Choudhary’s reprieve was based on fraud and not an acquittal.

The Deputy CM dismissed the claims as unfounded. “The court had acquitted me back in 1997-98. PK is only trying to play a perception game. He has no issues left, and raising allegations is the easiest way to grab headlines during elections,” Choudhary told reporters.

‘Deputy CM should be in jail, not in power’

Kishor intensified his criticism, saying there was no point attacking the Congress or RJD, who were already rejected due to corruption. Instead, he urged the public to notice that leaders who promised change had themselves become part of the corruption nexus.

He remarked, “What bigger joke with the Constitution than a murder accused serving as Deputy CM, standing with the Prime Minister, Home Minister and CM? He should be in jail. The court treated him as a minor, which he never was. It was no acquittal.”

Kishor presented Choudhary’s matriculation record, which listed his birth date as June 1, 1985, showing he was 26 in 1995. He said this evidence contradicts Choudhary’s 2020 election affidavit that claimed he was 51 years old, proving the use of forged documents. Kishor added that the seven people killed in the Tarapur incident in 1995 were from the Kushwaha community, and Choudhary received protection from the then RJD government because of his closeness to its leadership.

Link with Gautam-Shilpi case of 1999

Kishor also recalled Choudhary’s alleged role in the 1999 Gautam-Shilpi case. He said Choudhary was named along with Lalu Prasad’s brother-in-law Sadhu Yadav in the deaths of Shilpi Jain and Gautam Singh. Both were found dead in semi-nude condition inside a car near Yadav’s residence, creating a massive uproar in Patna.

The case, initially handled by the state, was later transferred to the CBI. The agency closed the matter years later, calling it a case of double suicide. “Choudhary should clarify whether his sample was taken. We will provide more details once he responds instead of dodging questions,” Kishor added.

Kishor slams Nitish for ignoring ‘3 Cs’

The Jan Suraaj leader accused Nitish Kumar of betraying his own principles of fighting Crime, Corruption, and Communalism. He said Nitish had compromised all three by continuing with colleagues accused of serious charges.

“If the Chief Minister fails to take action, we will approach the Governor. Choudhary should face jail for the crime and for forging documents. Even BJP’s late Sushil Modi had questioned how the murder case against Choudhary was closed due to Lalu Prasad’s clout,” Kishor said.
