Faculty and researchers from recognised Indian universities, institutes, colleges, and government bodies can apply under this opportunity.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced an “Announcement of Opportunity” (AO) on September 1, 2025, calling upon the scientific community in India to undertake research and analysis using data gathered by the Chandrayaan-3 lander and rover experiments.
Chandrayaan-3 created history on August 23, 2023, when its lander successfully touched down in the Moon’s southern high latitudes, making India the first country to achieve a landing in the lunar polar region.
“To maximise the scientific benefits of Chandrayaan-3, ISRO is inviting proposals from researchers outside ISRO and the Department of Space for detailed study and utilisation of mission data,” the agency stated.
The AO is open to faculty and researchers from accredited universities, colleges, government organisations, and research institutions across India. Applications can be submitted individually or jointly by a team of scientists. However, the Principal Investigator (PI) must have at least four years of service left before retirement. While multiple Co-PIs are allowed, the PI will remain the key point of contact. Proposals also require endorsement from the head of the applicant’s institution.
All submissions will be reviewed by a designated committee, with the deadline set for October 21, 2025. Approved projects must be completed within three years, though an additional year may be granted based on scientific progress and review committee recommendations. ISRO will conduct annual progress reviews and provide feedback to guide project improvements.
