Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna concluded his impressive 22-year professional career. The 45-year-old announced his retirement after his final match.

India’s prominent tennis star Rohan Bopanna has officially ended his long 22-year tennis journey. The 45-year-old played his final match at the Paris Masters 1000 tournament. Bopanna made history earlier this year. He became the oldest player ever to win a Grand Slam title. He also became the oldest player to reach the world number-1 rank in doubles tennis.
Honors and Achievements
He spoke emotionally about his retirement. “How do you bid farewell to something that gave your life its meaning. After 20 unforgettable years on tour, it’s time I’m officially hanging up my racquet. Representing India has been the greatest honour of my life. I played for the Tricolor every time I stepped on court.”
Bopanna concluded his legendary career with two Grand Slam victories. He secured the 2024 Australian Open men’s doubles title with Matthew Ebden. He also won the 2017 French Open mixed doubles title with Gabriela Dabrowski. He was a finalist in four other Grand Slam events during his career.

Rohan Bopanna shared his retirement note on Instagram. He wrote, “Goodbye, but not the end.” Tennis was more than a sport for him, he explained. It gave his life purpose and brought him back from a lost direction.

In the 2016 Olympics, the mixed doubles pair of Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza finished fourth. He participated in the singles Grand Slam events too.
