Team India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana reached a major milestone on Sunday by becoming the first woman cricketer to complete 1000 ODI runs in a calendar year.

Smriti Mandhana Reaches Historic Feat

Team India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana achieved a remarkable milestone on Sunday. She became the first female batter in history to complete 1000 ODI runs in a single calendar year.
Currently, India is facing Australia in the Women’s World Cup match. Australia’s captain Alyssa Healy won the toss and invited India to bat first.

Pratika-Mandhana Partnership Gives India Strong Start

In the ongoing clash against Australia, openers Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana gave India a solid start. Their partnership crossed the 60-run mark, marking the 14th time this duo has made a 50+ run stand.
Interestingly, among Indian women cricketers, the highest number of 50+ partnerships belongs to Harmanpreet Kaur and Mithali Raj, who have achieved this 18 times in 56 innings. Mandhana and Pratika follow with 14 fifty-plus partnerships in just 21 innings, while Anjum Chopra and Mithali Raj are third with 13 such stands in 57 innings. Mithali Raj and Punam Raut also have 13 partnerships in 34 innings.
