WhatsApp is preparing a major update. The company is adding a ‘Cover Photo’ feature like Facebook. This allows users to personalize and unique their profiles further.

WhatsApp Introduces New Cover Photo Feature
WhatsApp is getting ready for a big change soon. The company is working on a ‘Cover Photo’ feature similar to Facebook. This will let users make their profiles more personal and unique. Until now, people only used a profile photo to show themselves. Now they can add a cover image. This image can reflect their mood, personality, or style.
Details on WhatsApp’s New Cover Photo
Reports state this feature is currently in the beta version. It is going through a testing phase right now. The public release could happen within a few months. WABetaInfo shared this information. They said the cover photo option will be in Profile Settings.
This feature allows a wide, large image above the profile photo. It is exactly like the setup on Facebook, LinkedIn, or X (formerly Twitter). Users can customize this cover photo. They can adjust it based on their privacy settings. You can decide who sees it. Options include all, contacts only, or nobody at all.
Testing Phase Begins for Beta Users
The feature is currently being tested. It is available for some select users on WhatsApp Android beta. It will reach more people in the coming weeks. Actually, WhatsApp Business profiles already have this feature. But now the company plans to offer it to all users.
Another Sign of Meta’s Growing Influence
This change in WhatsApp shows a trend. Meta (WhatsApp’s parent company) is slowly unifying all its platforms. They are moving towards a unified experience. Meta plans for users to have similar visuals and interface. This will be the case across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is Also Controlling AI Chatbots
WhatsApp is also cautious about AI assistants and chatbots. There is a surge of them on the platform. Meta is now blocking companies. These companies were launching their AI bots on WhatsApp. This new rule change affects platforms like ChatGPT and Perplexity. They are now struggling to reach users through WhatsApp.
