Trump’s Big Peace Proposal for Gaza

US President Donald Trump announced a dramatic peace plan on Monday aimed at finally stopping the two-year-long Gaza war. The proposal was revealed during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House, where Israel confirmed its acceptance of the deal.

The 20-point roadmap promises a ceasefire in Gaza, withdrawal of Israeli troops, release of hostages, and the formation of a new administration for Palestinian territories. Trump claimed the plan could bring peace “within hours” if agreed upon by both Israel and Hamas.

Immediate End to Fighting

According to the proposal, once both sides give their consent, fighting in Gaza would end right away. Israeli forces would pull back from Palestinian lands, while Hamas would be required to release the remaining hostages within 72 hours.

Reports suggest that Hamas currently holds 48 hostages, with only 20 believed to be alive. In exchange, Israel would free 250 prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 Palestinians detained since the conflict began. Additionally, Israel would return 15 Palestinian bodies for every hostage body received.

No Annexation and a New Government in Gaza

The plan clearly states that Israel will not annex the Gaza Strip. Instead, Gaza would be temporarily governed by a non-political committee consisting of Palestinians and global experts. This interim body would manage daily public services and ensure stability.

Hamas, however, would have no role in the political future of Gaza. Instead, the group would hand over administrative control to a “technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee.”

Role of the International Community

To make the plan workable, the peace process would be monitored by a “Board of Peace” led by Donald Trump himself, alongside world leaders like former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair. The US would also step in to support direct talks between Palestinians and Israelis.

At the same time, Israel would retain a “security perimeter presence” inside Gaza, likely establishing a controlled buffer zone to safeguard its borders.

What Happens Next?

While Israel has already welcomed the proposal, Hamas has not yet issued an official response. If the plan goes forward, it could mark one of the most significant steps towards ending the ongoing Gaza war. But the big question remains: Will Hamas accept it?
