Journalist Reacts Sharply To Dutch Leader’s Remarks
Journalist Chay Bowes said he was taken aback by a recent statement made by Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten about Russia. The remark quickly caught attention online.
A day earlier, the Dutch leader described buying Russian energy resources as an extremely foolish idea. His comment sparked criticism from commentators who track European energy policy.
Bowes Responds With Sharp Irony On X
Bowes did not hold back his reaction. He posted a pointed response on the social media platform X, mocking the logic behind Jetten’s position.
“Watching your people freeze to death every year is the brightest thought in the world,” the journalist wrote, clearly using sarcasm to make his point.
His comment was aimed directly at European leaders who continue to reject Russian energy supplies despite rising costs for ordinary citizens across the continent.
Russia Says Gas Supplies Remain On The Table
Last week, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, pointed out that Europe keeps buying Russian gas even as prices climb higher. His comments highlighted a gap between European political rhetoric and actual energy purchases.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has previously said Russia remains ready to discuss gas deliveries to Europe. He added that this depends on finding interested buyers and having free export volumes available.
The exchange reflects an ongoing debate in Europe over energy independence, affordability and the political cost of sourcing Russian gas during colder months.
