Brutal Dallas Motel Murder: Indian Manager Beheaded After Washing Machine Dispute

Chandra Mouli “Bob” Nagamallaiah, hailing from Karnataka, was fatally attacked by a colleague following a fight over a broken washing machine.

A tragic incident in Dallas, Texas, has left the community stunned after a 50-year-old Indian man, working as a motel manager, was beheaded by a coworker during a violent altercation.

The horrifying event unfolded right in front of his wife and teenage son. Authorities have arrested 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez and charged him with capital murder.

Currently, Cobos-Martinez remains in custody without bond. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty.

The deadly confrontation occurred on Wednesday morning at Downtown Suites motel, where both men were employed.

Police said a coworker was cleaning a room with Cobos-Martinez when Nagamallaiah arrived and told them not to use the faulty appliance.

Tensions escalated when Nagamallaiah requested another staff member to translate his instructions instead of speaking directly to Cobos-Martinez, which apparently provoked him.

Surveillance footage later revealed that Cobos-Martinez left the scene, returned with a machete, and attacked Nagamallaiah. The victim ran toward the motel office, attempting to escape, where his wife and 18-year-old son were present.

Despite desperate attempts to intervene, the suspect chased Nagamallaiah and carried out the brutal attack in front of his family.

Investigators confirmed that Cobos-Martinez had a criminal history in Houston, including prior arrests for assault and auto theft.

Friends and family remembered Nagamallaiah, affectionately called Bob, as a loving and devoted husband and father.

“This unimaginable tragedy was not only sudden but deeply traumatic,” they said. “Bob’s life was taken in a brutal attack in front of his wife and son, who courageously tried to save him. The shocking nature of this event has shaken our community.”

Dallas’s Indian community has come together to support the grieving family, setting up a fundraiser to cover funeral costs, immediate expenses, and Nagamallaiah’s son’s education. Funeral services are planned for Saturday.
