At the 80th Workers’ Party anniversary, Kim Jong Un praised his troops and vowed stronger ties with Russia.

Grand display of power in Pyongyang
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un led a striking military parade that unveiled the country’s newest intercontinental ballistic missile before global guests, state media KCNA reported on Saturday.
The event began late Friday, marking the 80th founding anniversary of the ruling Workers’ Party, following days of celebration across Pyongyang.
World leaders witness the parade
Among the foreign dignitaries attending were Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Russian delegation head and ex-president Dmitry Medvedev, and Vietnam’s Communist Party chief To Lam. They joined the grand ceremony honoring the North’s political milestone.
Unveiling the Hwasong-20 missile
The nuclear-armed nation showcased its advanced Hwasong-20 ICBM, described by KCNA as the “strongest nuclear strategic weapon system” ever built by North Korea.
The Hwasong missile range can strike anywhere in the U.S., though experts question its guidance accuracy and warhead endurance during atmospheric re-entry.
Kim’s message to his forces
In his address, Kim Jong Un praised the courage of North Korean troops deployed abroad, stating their valor will shine not only in defending the homeland but also in “socialist construction outposts.” His remarks highlighted the growing global ambitions of North Korea’s military presence.
Talks with Russian delegation
Kim also held discussions with Dmitry Medvedev on Friday. Medvedev lauded the bravery of North Korean soldiers aiding Russia in Kursk, calling it proof of deep trust between the two nations.
Kim reaffirmed his commitment to expand cooperation with Moscow through closer political and economic exchanges to achieve shared goals, KCNA added.
