Devastation in Kyiv

Russia started new attacks on Ukraine this Tuesday. These strikes hit city buildings and energy grids, killing at least six people. Meanwhile, Ukraine attacked southern Russia. Authorities say this killed three people and damaged several homes. Parts of Kyiv lost water, electricity, and heat. Videos on Telegram showed a huge fire in a Dniprovskyi apartment building. Mayor Vitalii Klitschko confirmed two deaths and five injuries in Dniprovskyi. Another building in Pechersk suffered bad damage.

Casualties and Counterattacks

Later, another attack hit a non-residential building in Svyatoshynyi. Tymor Tkachenko reported four deaths and three injuries there. The energy ministry confirmed damage to power grids. In Odesa, Russian strikes on ports injured six people, including two kids. Overnight, a Ukrainian drone hit Russia’s Rostov region. This attack killed three people and wounded eight others. Gov. Yuri Slyusar confirmed the deaths happened in Taganrog near the border. The attack damaged homes, a warehouse, and a paint shop. Russia’s Defense Ministry claims they destroyed 249 Ukrainian drones. They shot down 116 of these over the Black Sea.

Diplomatic Efforts Continue

These attacks happened after US and Ukraine officials met in Geneva. They discussed a peace plan Sunday. Oleksandr Bevz told The Associated Press the talks had been “very constructive.” He said they discussed most points. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said they have not seen the updated plan yet. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll met Russian officials in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. A US official confirmed this to The Associated Press. Driscoll joined the team recently. He is now leading talks on a possible peace plan with Russia. The US official spoke anonymously. He noted that Ukrainians knew about this specific meeting. The official gave no timeline details. However, all sides want to stop the fighting as quickly as possible.
