Saudi Arabia Restarts Oil Exports From Persian Gulf After Months of Halt

Saudi Arabia’s state-run oil company, Saudi Aramco, has restarted crude oil loading at the Ras Tanura port located along the Persian Gulf coastline. The company has also resumed hydrocarbon exports through the Strait of Hormuz a critical global oil shipping route.

Supertankers Back at Ras Tanura Terminal

Vessel tracking data from the Vessel Finder portal revealed that multiple Saudi oil supertankers are now stationed at Ras Tanura specifically near the Juaymah terminal where crews are actively loading crude oil from onshore fields. The return of these vessels signals a clear restart of export activity from the Gulf coast.

“Saudi Arabia has resumed crude oil exports through its Persian Gulf terminals using the route through the Strait of Hormuz. Saudi Aramco is currently carrying out oil loading operations at the Ras Tanura port situated on the coast of the Persian Gulf,” the insider told the agency.

Exact Restart Date Still Unknown

The industry source acknowledged that the precise date when operations fully resumed remains unclear. However, there is no ambiguity about the current situation loading is actively underway at the terminal right now.

Months of Disruption After March Suspension

Saudi Arabia had completely suspended oil export shipments from the Ras Tanura port back in March a direct consequence of the deteriorating security situation in the Strait of Hormuz. During that period, the kingdom rerouted all its oil exports through the Yanbu port located on the Red Sea coast to maintain supply continuity to international buyers.

Iran-US Memorandum Clears Path for Resumption

A major diplomatic breakthrough paved the way for this development. Iran and the United States in the early hours of June 18 remotely signed a memorandum designed to formally end the military conflict that had begun on February 28. The memorandum also lays out a clear timetable specifying when the US will lift its naval blockade and when Iran will restore free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

The resumption of Saudi oil shipments through the Persian Gulf marks a pivotal step in stabilizing global energy markets and signals cautious optimism that regional tensions may finally be easing.
