Sirik Port Escapes Without a Scratch
Despite the strike, the port of Sirik came out unharmed. Iranian media reported explosions heard near the coastal city of Sirik located right on the shores of the Strait of Hormuz. However, Reuters, quoting Iranian media sources, confirmed
“The port of Sirik suffered no damage as a result of the US attack.”
The city sits in a strategically sensitive location its waters form part of one of the most vital shipping lanes on the planet.
Tensions Flare in the Strait of Hormuz
Earlier that day, Iran reportedly struck several US military positions across the region marking a sharp escalation in an already volatile standoff. The Strait of Hormuz handles a massive share of the world’s oil shipments making any military activity there a matter of global concern.
