The US Secretary of State revealed America is seeking a new strategic alignment with Pakistan. He stated, “We are willing to work with Pakistan.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirmed that growing closeness between Washington and Pakistan will not affect America’s strong partnership with India. Rubio made it clear the US goal is not just counter-terrorism cooperation with Pakistan. Instead, they aim to boost the partnership on economic and strategic levels too.
‘Our Relationship with India is Deep and Historic’ – US Secretary of State
Rubio said at a press briefing, “Our relationship with India is deep, historic, and very important.” He added, “Our talks with Pakistan are not happening at India’s expense.” He mentioned America follows a practical foreign policy approach. This policy strengthens ties with several nations simultaneously. India is a very mature country. It understands America needs relationships with various nations.
‘We Want to Rebuild the Alliance with Pakistan’
The US Secretary of State revealed America seeks to forge a new strategic alliance with Pakistan. He stated, “We are willing to work with Pakistan.” He admitted, “We know there will be challenges.” However, he stressed, “We are looking for opportunities to work together.” Rubio also noted the long history of counter-terrorism cooperation. Washington now wishes to advance this cooperation further.
‘India’s Concern is Natural, But We Will Maintain Balance’
Rubio was asked if India expressed concern over America’s increasing proximity to Pakistan. He replied, “India’s concern is natural.” This is because both countries have faced long-standing tension. “But India understands America must maintain ties with multiple countries.” He pointed out that India also has relations with countries America is distant from. He concluded this is part of mature diplomacy.
New Warmth in US-Pakistan Relations
Recently, US-Pakistan relations have rapidly gained strength. The US finalized a critical minerals partnership agreement with Pakistan. This pact involves an investment of $500 million. Furthermore, both countries also agreed on oil reserves and trade expansion.
Trump Praises Pak PM and Army Chief
On Sunday, US President Donald Trump praised Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He also commended Army Chief General Asim Munir. Trump called them ‘excellent people.’ Trump recently claimed he saved millions of lives. He stated he prevented a potential war between India and Pakistan. This statement comes as US-Pakistan relations take a new turn.
