Syria Denies It Will Join Saudi Arabia’s War Against the Houthis

Syria insists it is not joining any Houthi war despite its full backing of Saudi Arabia. Damascus says rebuilding the country, not opening new battle fronts, is its top priority right now.

Rebuilding Comes First for Damascus

Syria is putting national rebuilding ahead of joining any new conflict. This stands despite Syria’s strong support for Saudi Arabia against outside threats. The statement came through Syrian Response, a foreign media unit under Syria’s Information Ministry.

Reuters Report Raised Houthi War Questions

Reuters earlier cited an American source on this matter. It reported that Saudi officials had asked Syria for military help. The target would be Ansar Allah, the Houthi movement that controls northern Yemen. This request allegedly came up during President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s visit to the kingdom. Al-Sharaa reportedly promised to send 20,000 troops into the Houthi war.

Damascus Responds to the Houthi War Claims

Syria’s Information Ministry addressed these claims directly. The statement read:

“””Damascus’s position is clear. Syria firmly supports the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against threats to its security and stability. However, Syria’s current priority is rebuilding the country, strengthening state institutions and working with partners to restore and improve living conditions for Syrians, rather than opening new fronts.”””

Any Cooperation Must Follow Official Channels

Syria’s Information Ministry added one more key point. Any future military cooperation with partner nations will run through official channels only. It must stay within existing bilateral agreements, nothing beyond that.
