Trump Ally Claims JD Vance Would Not Be VP if He Married a Muslim Woman

The controversy began after NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani spoke about the lives of American Muslims changing post-9/11. He stated his aunt avoids the subway because she wears a hijab.

Right-Wing Figure’s Statement on Islam

A close associate of President Donald Trump, right-wing figure Laura Loomer, has made a controversial statement about Muslims. Loomer suggested JD Vance would likely not be considered for the White House if he had married a Muslim woman.

This comment comes amid an ongoing feud between Vance and New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. Vance had previously criticized Mamdani’s remarks about the 9/11 attacks. British-American journalist Mehdi Hasan objected to Vance’s comments. Hasan accused Vance of mocking “brown people,” despite Vance himself being married to an Indian Hindu.

MAGA Support and Vance’s Marriage

Mehdi Hasan highlighted that JD Vance is married to Usha Vance, a Hindu woman of Indian descent. Yet, Hasan noted, Vance publicly makes derogatory remarks about “brown people.” Responding to this, Loomer asserted that JD Vance’s wife is not Muslim.

Loomer argued that if she were, the MAGA movement would not support Vance’s run for the White House. MAGA stands for “Make America Great Again.” This slogan was prominent during Donald Trump’s election campaigns in 2016, 2020, and 2024.

Loomer questioned the comparison between Hindus and Muslims on the social media platform X. She wrote, ‘Do you think Hindus and Muslims are the same?’ Loomer continued, ‘Usha Vance is a Hindu American. Our issue is not with “brown people” but with Islam.’

The Origin of the Controversy

The dispute stems from a statement made by Zohran Mamdani. Standing outside a mosque in the Bronx, Mamdani described the impact of 9/11. He said, “My aunt stopped taking the subway after 9/11. She feels it is unsafe to be seen in a hijab. This attack changed the lives of New York Muslims…” Several imams and other Muslims were present with Mamdani.

Vance disliked Mamdani’s statement, remarking, ‘According to Zohran, his aunt is the real victim of 9/11.’ Hasan then called Vance a “bad person.” He criticized Vance’s comment, pointing out his marriage to a “brown woman.” Hasan noted that Vance’s children are of mixed race. Despite this, Vance still publicly ridicules “brown people.”
