Washington is no longer willing to take Tehran’s word the White House now wants hard, written commitments on Iran’s nuclear program before any preliminary deal moves forward.

Trump Wants Written Proof From Tehran

U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing Iran to formally put its nuclear concessions in writing. This demand comes as part of a preliminary agreement framework one aimed at breaking the long-standing deadlock between Washington and Tehran. According to American officials and another source familiar with the matter, Trump wants something concrete not just verbal assurances.

“President Donald Trump is demanding that Tehran formally commit in writing to specific nuclear concessions as part of a preliminary agreement designed to resolve the prolonged standoff between the U.S. and Iran,” the report states, citing American officials and another source familiar with the situation.

Rubio Draws a Hard Line on Sanctions

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio made clear that Washington has no intention of lifting sanctions on Iran simply for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. That move alone however strategically significant will not be enough to ease American economic pressure on Tehran.

How the Conflict Unfolded

The U.S. and Israel launched strikes on Iranian territory on February 28, targeting multiple sites across the country. More than 3,000 people lost their lives in the attacks. Washington and Tehran declared a ceasefire on April 8 a move that briefly raised hopes of diplomatic progress.

Talks held in Islamabad following the ceasefire ended without any breakthrough. No resumption of hostilities has been reported since then but the United States has moved to blockade Iranian ports, keeping the pressure firmly in place.
