US Spent Nearly $30 Billion on Military Operation Against Iran, White House Budget Chief Reveals

White House Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought told Congress that the United States spent close to $30 billion on its military operation against Iran. The figure nearly matches an earlier Pentagon estimate of $29 billion reported in May.

The United States spent roughly $30 billion on its military campaign against Iran. White House budget chief Russell Vought confirmed this figure before Congress.

Back in May, acting Pentagon financial chief Jules Hurst said US spending on the Iran operation had climbed close to $29 billion. The numbers from both officials paint a consistent picture of the operation’s enormous cost.

“We spent about $30 billion,” Vought told lawmakers during a congressional hearing. He made the remark while responding to a direct question about the operation’s price tag.

Earlier, the Trump administration asked Congress for $87.6 billion in additional funding. That request covered various needs, including expenses directly tied to the Iran military operation.

Iran and the United States remotely signed a memorandum on the night of June 18. The deal calls for ending the armed conflict that began on February 28. The memorandum also sets out a clear timeline. Under it, the US will lift its naval blockade, and Iran will restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
