India Backs UAE Firmly, PM Modi Slams Fujairah Attack After Three Indians Get Hurt

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sharply condemned missile and drone strikes on the UAE’s Fujairah oil hub where three Indian nationals were injured calling the targeting of civilians and infrastructure completely unacceptable, and stressing that safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is vital for global energy security.

India Calls the Fujairah Attack Unacceptable

India has come out strongly against the recent drone and missile strikes that hit Fujairah a strategically critical energy hub on the UAE’s eastern coast. Three Indian nationals sustained injuries in the attack, which struck the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone. New Delhi was swift in joining the global chorus demanding an immediate stop to hostilities targeting civilian infrastructure.

Fujairah holds a unique position among the UAE’s seven emirates it is the only one sitting entirely along the Gulf of Oman. This makes it a crucial alternative route for global oil exports, bypassing the volatile Strait of Hormuz one of the world’s most sensitive maritime chokepoints.

PM Modi Takes a Strong Stand on X

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X to express his outrage over the attack. “Strongly condemn the attacks on the UAE that resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals. Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable. India stands in firm solidarity with the UAE and reiterates its support for the peaceful resolution of all issues through dialogue and diplomacy. Ensuring safe and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is vital for enduring regional peace, stability and global energy security,” Modi posted.

The statement left no room for ambiguity India was firmly backing the UAE and pushing for a diplomatic path forward.

MEA Echoes the Same Tough Line

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also issued a formal statement condemning the Fujairah strikes. He underlined that attacks on innocent civilians must stop immediately. India, he stressed, remains committed to dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable tools for restoring peace across West Asia.

“The attack on Fujairah that resulted in injury to three Indian nationals is unacceptable. We call for an immediate cessation of such actions,” Jaiswal said.

The spokesperson also flagged the importance of keeping trade routes open specifically calling for “free and unimpeded navigation and commerce” through the Strait of Hormuz, in line with international law. India, he added, stands ready to support all efforts aimed at peacefully resolving the ongoing regional crisis.

Indian Embassy in UAE Tracks Injured Nationals

The Indian Embassy in the UAE moved quickly after the strikes. Officials confirmed that three Indian citizens were injured in the Fujairah attack and said they were actively coordinating with local authorities. “Three Indian nationals have been injured in today’s attacks in Fujairah. We are in touch with local authorities for ensuring adequate medical care and welfare of the affected Indian nationals,” the Embassy posted on X.

Reports suggest the three sustained moderate injuries caused by a fire that broke out at the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone following the strike.

What Actually Happened in Fujairah

The UAE’s air defence systems scrambled to intercept the incoming threat successfully taking down 15 missiles and four drones reportedly launched from Iran’s direction. However, one drone did get through striking the Fujairah oil facility and triggering the fire. Beyond the injuries, two cargo vessels also caught fire off the UAE coast, raising fresh alarm over maritime safety in the already tense region.

The UAE government was blunt in its response calling it “renewed unprovoked aggression.” The Ministry of Defence confirmed the intercepted projectiles with loud explosions heard across multiple areas. Authorities made clear that they reserve the right to respond, calling the attack a direct violation of international law and a threat to national sovereignty.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) issued public advisories urging residents to stay indoors and keep away from debris left by the intercepted projectiles.

Iran’s Murky Role in the Strikes

Iran has not officially owned up to the attack. Yet, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a thinly veiled warning saying both the United States and the UAE should avoid getting pulled deeper into the conflict. Iranian state media quoted an unnamed official suggesting the incident was not pre-planned, linking it loosely to broader geopolitical tensions particularly ongoing US military activity in the region.

This attack marks a significant escalation the first such strike on UAE soil since a fragile ceasefire came into effect earlier this year. With global oil routes in the crosshairs and Indian lives caught in the middle, New Delhi’s loud and clear message was this: peace through diplomacy, not provocation.
