The first container ship has arrived at Iran’s Shahid Rajaee port. This comes after the United States lifted its naval blockade on the country. Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB reported the development.

Vessel Docks At Key Iranian Port

“The first container ship has arrived at Shahid Rajaee Port”. the broadcaster’s statement read, confirming the ship had reached its destination. The arrival marks an early sign that trade routes are reopening after months of tension.

Trump Announced Blockade Removal Days Earlier

US President Donald Trump announced the blockade’s removal this past Monday following the conclusion of a new deal. The Pentagon’s central command noted American warships would still patrol the region. Their job making sure both sides honor the agreement.

Iran and the US signed a remote memorandum overnight on June 18. The document calls for ending the military conflict that began on February 28. It also sets timelines Washington must lift the naval blockade, while Tehran restores shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has further agreed not to acquire nuclear weapons under the deal. A separate agreement will need to address Iran’s nuclear program specifically. Both sides plan 60 days of talks on this issue. For Tehran, the goal is getting sanctions lifted entirely.

Tensions Persist Despite The Agreement

Yet on Saturday, Iran once again threatened to shut the Strait of Hormuz. The move came in response to Israeli actions against Lebanon. US Vice President JD Vance, however, insists Washington has seen no evidence of any shipping blockage. He expressed confidence the ceasefire would hold American negotiators, he said, have already reached Switzerland for further technical talks.
