Iran will consider negotiations with the United States only if Washington returns to following the Islamabad Memorandum. Tehran also warned that any hostile move by the US or Israel would receive a tough response.

Iran Links Any US Talks To Memorandum Compliance
Iran is ready to consider holding talks with the United States, but only if Washington goes back to fulfilling the Islamabad Memorandum. This statement came from Fada Hossein Maleki, a member of the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee.
Maleki explained that Tehran has set this condition clearly for any future dialogue. He said, “As I have already said, Iran sets the implementation of the memorandum as a condition for starting any talks (with the United States, ed.) … As for negotiations, if the Americans return to fulfilling the memorandum, then we will study this issue.”
This means Iran is not closing the door on diplomacy entirely. However, the ball is placed firmly in Washington’s court first.
Tehran Warns Of A Firm Response
Maleki did not stop at discussing talks. He also addressed what could happen if tensions rise further. According to him, if the United States and Israel take any kind of action against Iran, the country’s response “will be tough.”
This warning comes at a sensitive moment. Iran recently urged Middle Eastern nations to stop backing the United States, reflecting ongoing regional friction. The message signals that Tehran is watching developments closely, while leaving limited room for de-escalation unless its core demand is met.
