Russia’s Foreign Ministry has put the world on notice fresh strikes on Kyiv are coming. The warning follows a deadly Ukrainian attack on a school in Russian-occupied Luhansk, with Moscow calling the situation a “breaking point” in the war.

Moscow Puts Kyiv on Strike Alert
Russia’s Foreign Ministry stepped up its war rhetoric on Monday. It issued a stark new warning more strikes on Kyiv are coming, and they are coming soon. This threat is part of a continuing revenge campaign Moscow launched after a deadly Ukrainian strike hit the Luhansk region late last week.
The ministry did not hold back its language. It lashed out at what it called the “Zelensky junta and its Western sponsors” for violating international law. Officials said the May 22 strike on the Starobilsk Vocational School along with its student dormitory had pushed the conflict “past a breaking point.”

Russia Announces Systemic Strikes on Military Targets
The Foreign Ministry made the scope of its intentions crystal clear. “Under these circumstances, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are commencing a sequence of systemic strikes against Ukrainian military-industrial complex facilities in Kyiv,” the ministry said in a formal statement. “Strikes will also be launched against decision-making centers and command posts.”
Moscow then issued a direct and chilling message to anyone still in the Ukrainian capital leave now. The warning specifically named foreign nationals, including staff of embassies and international organisations, urging them to evacuate Kyiv without delay.
Weekend Bombardment Left Death and Destruction
This fresh threat did not come out of nowhere. Russia had already unleashed a brutal weekend assault on Kyiv and surrounding areas a punishing combination of drones and missiles. The arsenal even included the Oreshnik ballistic missile, a nuclear-capable weapon that sent shockwaves through Europe.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the weekend bombing campaign as “deranged.” He confirmed at least four people died and roughly 100 others suffered injuries across the country during the barrage.
Kremlin Frames Strikes as Retaliation, Ukraine Pushes Back
Moscow has been consistent in its messaging it called the heavy Kyiv bombardment a direct response to the Ukrainian drone attack on Starobilsk in occupied territory. The Kremlin claimed the strike left 21 “young people” dead. President Vladimir Putin ordered his military to hit back after that attack on Friday.
Ukraine, however, flatly denied targeting a vocational school. Kyiv insists its forces struck an elite drone command unit operating in the area not a civilian school.
The dispute spilled into the United Nations. At an emergency UN Security Council meeting Moscow called on Friday, Ukraine’s ambassador pushed back hard against Russian accusations of war crimes dismissing the entire session as a “pure propaganda show.”
