IRGC Air Defense Units Intercept US MQ-9 Drone

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps in a boldly worded statement on Tuesday confirmed that its air defense units tracked and shot down an American MQ-9 drone operating over the Persian Gulf. The IRGC Public Relations Department said the US “terrorist army” had entered Iran’s airspace, continuing what it called interventionist adventurism and aggressive behavior in the region.

Precise Intelligence Led to the Drone’s Destruction

Following close and precise intelligence monitoring, IRGC air defense forces identified the unmanned aerial vehicle deep inside Iranian territorial airspace. The forces moved swiftly bringing down the MQ-9 drone as part of what the Corps described as a firm defense of the country’s sovereign airspace.

F-35 Fighter Jet and RQ-4 Drone Also Targeted

The same statement revealed that IRGC forces also opened fire on an RQ-4 surveillance drone and an intruding US F-35 fighter jet. Both aircraft were forced to turn back fleeing Iranian territorial airspace under fire before any further escalation could unfold.

Iran Issues Strong Warning Over Ceasefire Violations

The IRGC did not stop at reporting the incident it went further, issuing a direct and unambiguous warning to the United States. The Corps stated clearly that it considers reciprocal retaliation its “legitimate and definite right” against any violation of the ceasefire by what it called the “aggressor US military.” The warning signals that Tehran has drawn a firm red line and will not hesitate to respond in kind.
