The Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today announced the release of the 21st instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme through video conferencing. This instalment has been given special priority to support farmers of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, who recently suffered major losses due to floods and landslides. Agriculture ministers, MPs, MLAs, senior officials from the three States, and farmer group representatives joined the event virtually.

Farmers in these regions have endured heavy crop damage and livelihood setbacks caused by floods and landslides in recent weeks. In this backdrop, the latest PM-KISAN release holds great significance. More than ₹540 crore has been transferred directly into the bank accounts of over 27 lakh farmers, including nearly 2.7 lakh women farmers. The aim is to provide timely financial relief so farmers can stabilize their households and plan the next sowing season.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan reaffirmed that the Government will always stand firmly with the farming community. He pointed out that the instalment of ₹2,000 will help farmers manage immediate family expenses, buy seeds and fertilizers, and regain confidence to return to cultivation. He stressed that this is not only financial support but also a reassurance that every farmer matters and none will be abandoned in times of crisis.

A documentary was also presented during the event, showing the struggles of farmers in these disaster-hit States and highlighting Government measures to aid them. The video is available at https://rb.gy/w673av.

The Minister further recalled the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s recent visit to affected areas, where relief packages of ₹1500 crore for Himachal Pradesh, ₹1600 crore for Punjab, and ₹1200 crore for Uttarakhand were announced. Additional support included ex-gratia for families of the deceased and injured, along with benefits under the PM CARES for Children scheme. The 21st instalment of PM-KISAN complements these relief measures and strengthens the Government’s promise to provide help at every step.

With this release, the cumulative disbursement of PM-KISAN benefits to farmers in the three States has now exceeded ₹13,626 crore since the scheme’s launch on February 24, 2019. The quick transfer of funds once again highlights the Government of India’s consistent commitment to farmers, especially during times when natural calamities threaten their livelihood and future.
