Deepotsav 2025: Ayodhya Deepotsav witnessed a new world record for lighting lamps. Another significant milestone was achieved. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accepted the certificate for the achievement.

Deepotsav Marks Grand Celebration in Ayodhya
Deepotsav was celebrated with great pomp in Ayodhya. This happened one day before Diwali. The 9th edition of this event took place on Sunday, October 19. A new lamp-lighting record was successfully established. 26 lakh lamps illuminated the area. This stretched from Ram ki Paidi to the Saryu river banks. A brilliant laser light show also brightened the entire area.
Two New World Records Achieved
The Deepotsav set a record for lighting the most lamps. A total of 26,17,215 earthen lamps were lit. Additionally, 2128 priests performed a simultaneous ‘Aarti’ (prayer) of Maa Saryu. A team from the Guinness Book of World Records was present. They officially recorded this significant feat. CM Yogi was then presented with the Guinness World Records certificate.
Comparing Deepotsav’s Growth
Two new world records were set during the Ayodhya Deepotsav. These include over 26 lakh lamps and the ‘Aarti’ by 2128 priests. The team officially registered both records. The first Deepotsav in 2017 saw 1.71 lakh lamps lit. This current number is nearly 25 times higher than the 2017 event. This special occasion featured a Ramlila performance. It was staged at Ram ki Paidi on the Saryu banks. This was complemented by a laser-light show. The ghats were aglow with lamps and colourful lights.
CM Yogi Adityanath Praises the Event
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the gathering. This was at Ram Katha Park during the Ram ‘Rajyabhishek’ on Sunday. “Ayodhya is the first of the seven sacred cities,” he stated. “Here, Dharma (righteousness) descended in human form.” He added that “Every particle here holds ‘Maryada’ (dignity).” “Every lamp contains compassion,” he said. “Lord Shri Ram resides in every heart.” He recalled that thousands of years ago, Ayodhya lit lamps. This was to welcome their God and their faith. The world was then living in darkness.
He also mentioned that Deepotsav and Diwali became a grand festival. It is a major festival of Sanatan Dharma. “To keep this grand festival alive, only 1,71,000 lamps were lit,” he said. That was during the first Deepotsav in 2017. “Today, on the ninth Deepotsav, more than 26 lakh lamps are lit in Ayodhya Dham alone.” He further noted the huge scale. He said that “If calculated across the whole state, 1 crore 51 lakh lamps are burning only in Deepotsav.” CM Yogi appeared overjoyed during the Deepotsav. He raised both hands to express happiness over the new record.
