Buddha relics in Russia: A spiritual bond between India and Russia

UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has arrived in Elista, the capital of Kalmykia Republic, carrying the sacred relics of Lord Buddha. Representing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he is on a special mission where these holy relics will be displayed publicly for seven days.

This journey reflects India’s ancient philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the world as one family—and aims to enhance spiritual and cultural connections between India and Russia. Maurya departed for Russia after performing special prayers at Delhi’s Palam Airport.

The sacred Buddha relics will remain on display from October 11 to 18 in Russia, accompanied by a magnificent Buddhist exhibition. For the first time, the revered relics of Lord Buddha have been brought to Russian soil, marking a historic cultural milestone.

Alongside Keshav Maurya, 11 senior Indian monks are part of this high-level delegation that symbolizes India’s deep respect for global peace and spirituality.
