BSF Additional Director General Satish S. Khandare says infiltration attempts rise before winter. Intelligence suggests multiple launch pads across the border are active, where terrorists prepare infiltration.

Heightened security as cold winds loom
Even before cold winds arrive, the security climate in Kashmir valley has sharpened. On the LoC (Line of Control), the BSF (Border Security Force) has stepped up vigilance to counter infiltration attempts. Intelligence reports warn that terrorists are gathering at multiple launch pads across the border, preparing to sneak into the valley.
Alert from top brass during Wular Marathon
On Sunday, at the Wular 2.0 Marathon in Bandipora, North Kashmir, BSF ADG Satish S. Khandare said,
“Normally, infiltration attempts by terrorists increase just before winter. That’s why we have kept our troops and officers on high alert, and strengthened border surveillance.”
He added that intelligence inputs indicate that across the border several launch pads have been activated where terrorists are readying infiltration. He said,
“It’s hard to specify numbers, but reports show some activity. We remain alert on every front.”
Army and BSF stand joint guard
The BSF officer made it clear that the threat of infiltration always lingers, but the Indian Army and BSF are fully prepared. “We are carrying out our duties with complete readiness. No terrorist attempt can evade our troops,” he stated.
Marathon connects civilians and forces
Hundreds of youth and women took part in the marathon held near Wular Lake. The race was held in three categories: 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km. The BSF officer noted,
“This is the second edition of the Wular Marathon. We held it last year as well. Its aim is to build stronger ties between border area residents and the security forces, and boost trust between civilians and forces.”
Challenges rise just before winter
In the valley, heavy snowfall often closes many routes during winter, making this period a final window for terror movement. That is why the BSF has increased patrols, deployed night-vision devices, and boosted surveillance drone deployment along the border ahead of winter.
