Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 126th episode of Mann Ki Baat, lauded the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on completing 100 years, highlighting its values of service, sacrifice, and discipline. He said that whenever natural disasters strike the country, RSS volunteers are the first to reach and help those in need.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation today through the 126th episode of Mann Ki Baat. In his address, he spoke about the grandeur of Durga Puja in Bengal. He expressed pride that due to India’s efforts, Kolkata’s Durga Puja has been included in UNESCO’s cultural heritage list. Modi also paid tribute to the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on her birth anniversary, calling her an inspiration for generations.
During this episode, the Prime Minister said, “This Vijayadashami holds special significance for another reason as well. On this day, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh completes 100 years of its foundation. The journey of one century has been extraordinary, unmatched, and deeply inspiring.”
He recalled that a century ago, when RSS was founded, India was shackled under colonial rule. Generations of slavery had deeply hurt the nation’s self-respect and confidence. The world’s oldest civilization was battling an identity crisis, and the people of the country suffered from inferiority and hopelessness.

Sacrifice and Service: True Strength of RSS – PM Modi
Modi emphasized that the real strength of RSS lies in its spirit of sacrifice, service, and discipline. He said that for the last hundred years, RSS has worked tirelessly in the service of the nation. “That is why whenever natural disasters strike anywhere in India, RSS volunteers are the first to reach the affected areas. The spirit of ‘Nation First’ always remains the highest priority in every action and effort of millions of volunteers,” he said.
He reminded the nation that RSS was established in 1925 on the day of Vijayadashami. After the passing of Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, Guruji Golwalkar carried forward this great mission of service to the nation.

PM Modi’s Call: Visit Maharshi Valmiki and Nishadraj Temples in Ayodhya
The Prime Minister also spoke about the upcoming celebration of Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti on October 7. “It was Maharshi Valmiki who introduced us extensively to the divine stories of Lord Ram’s life. He gave humanity the timeless epic Ramayana. This epic is deeply inspired by the ideals and values of Lord Ram, who embraced everyone with service, compassion, and harmony,” Modi said.
He stressed that the Ram portrayed in Valmiki’s Ramayana is incomplete without Mata Shabari and Nishadraj. Referring to the newly built Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Modi added, “Along with the temple of Shri Ram Lalla, temples dedicated to Nishadraj and Maharshi Valmiki have also been constructed. I urge you that when you visit Ayodhya to seek the blessings of Ram Lalla, you must also visit the temples of Maharshi Valmiki and Nishadraj.”
