A major wildlife controversy has surfaced in the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve after authorities detained a Bengaluru-based photographer for questioning in connection with missing tigers. Investigators are examining whether information about tiger movements was shared with poaching networks operating in and around the reserve.

Probe Intensifies After Tigers Go Missing in Tadoba
Concern is growing inside the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve following reports that several tigers from the reserve and nearby forest areas have not been sighted for some time. The development has sparked fears of possible poaching activity.
As part of the investigation, forest officials have taken a Bengaluru-based wildlife photographer into custody for questioning. Authorities suspect he may have provided information about tiger locations to poaching groups. Investigators are currently examining all possible links between the missing tigers and the photographer’s activities.
Photographer Under Scanner for Multiple Suspicious Activities
Officials have not disclosed the photographer’s identity. However, several suspicious details have reportedly emerged during the ongoing investigation.
According to preliminary findings, the individual had been visiting Tadoba regularly for safari tours over an extended period. Authorities also suspect that he violated safari regulations in the buffer zones of Mamla, Kesalghat and Nimdhela.
Investigators are now reviewing whether these activities were connected to the disappearance of the tigers.
Allegations of Using Meat to Attract Tigers
The inquiry has also uncovered allegations that the photographer carried animal meat into forest areas to lure tigers for photography.
Officials suspect that livestock may have been tied near tiger territories at certain locations to attract the animals. Preliminary investigations indicate that a few safari vehicle drivers and tourist guides may have assisted in these activities.
Forest authorities are examining the extent of involvement of all individuals linked to the case.
Electronic Devices Seized for Detailed Investigation
The Tadoba administration is investigating whether there is any direct connection between the missing tigers and the alleged activities under scrutiny.
As part of the probe, officials seized the photographer’s mobile phone, laptop and other electronic equipment. Investigators are analysing the devices for evidence related to wildlife movements, communications and possible illegal activities.
The findings from the digital investigation are expected to play a crucial role in the case.
Hospital Admission Followed by Fresh Questioning
Sources said the individual was admitted to a hospital after citing health concerns while the inquiry was underway.
However, officials later resumed detailed questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not yet revealed what information emerged during the interrogation.
The investigation remains active, and officials have not issued any formal statement regarding the conclusions reached so far.
