For the first time since independence, the CWC meeting was held in Patna. The session lasted almost five hours where Congress passed two key resolutions. During the discussion, the party strongly criticized BJP-RSS, raising concerns about “vote theft” and the issue of SIR. The practice of vote theft was described as a serious alarm for democracy.

In Bihar’s capital Patna, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting continued for nearly five hours and ended with the passing of two important resolutions. One was political in nature while the other focused specifically on Bihar. Through these, the party made an appeal to the state’s voters and emphasized that BJP-RSS continue their assault on the Constitution. The resolution stated that the fundamental principles of democracy are being dismantled brick by brick.
Congress highlighted that under BJP rule, social justice is being suppressed, and privatization is being used as a tool to systematically weaken reservations. The resolution alleged that “vote theft” and irregularities in the electoral rolls have shaken public faith in the very foundation of democracy. Manipulation of voter lists in Bihar was described as another dirty tactic from BJP’s “toolkit” to cling to power.
The document also noted that the government remains indifferent because it knows it can retain authority not through service, but through deceit and fear. It declared that vote theft cannot be separated from attacks on the Constitution, social justice, and national security. At the same time, Dalits and tribal communities are increasingly facing rising violence under the present regime.
On foreign policy, the CWC expressed deep concern, stating that India has become diplomatically isolated. The resolution mentioned that Donald Trump repeatedly claimed he used trade as a bargaining tool to force India to halt “Operation Sindoor.” The government refused to respond to these allegations, and Prime Minister Modi’s so-called “hug diplomacy” has completely backfired. According to the CWC, this failure has left India unable to safeguard its national interests. Trump’s repeated statements about stopping wars have further exposed India’s weakness, while the future of millions of Indian citizens in America has been endangered due to H1B visa issues.
The meeting also carried historical significance. It was after 85 years that the Congress Working Committee convened in Patna, and notably, this was the first such gathering since India’s independence. Earlier CWC meetings in Patna had been held in 1912, 1922, and 1940.
