In the wake of a US military strike that resulted in the deaths of 11 individuals aboard a vessel allegedly tied to the Venezuelan cartel Tren de Aragua, Vice President JD Vance has come forward to defend the action, brushing off critics who labeled it a war crime. “I don’t give a sh*t,” Vance declared, directly addressing those condemning the operation.

Sharing his perspective on X this past Saturday, Vance asserted, “Killing cartel members who poison our fellow citizens is the highest and best use of our military,” emphasizing the rationale behind targeting those involved in organized crime that threatens American lives.

The strike, however, has sparked backlash, with figures such as political commentator Brian Krassenstein criticizing the operation as unlawful. Krassenstein wrote on X, “Killing the citizens of another nation who are civilians without any due process is called a war crime.” Responding firmly to this criticism, Vance reiterated, “I don’t give a shit what you call it.”

Earlier statements from US President Donald Trump confirmed the strike, which took place on September 3, noting that the US Military conducted a kinetic operation against confirmed Tren de Aragua narcoterrorists under his direct orders. “TDA is a designated Foreign Terrorist Organisation, operating under the control of Nicolas Maduro, responsible for mass murder, drug trafficking, sex trafficking, and acts of violence and terror across the United States and Western Hemisphere,” Trump stated on Truth Social. He further warned, “Please let this serve as notice to anybody even thinking about bringing drugs into the United States of America. BEWARE!”

CNN reports indicate that the US military is intensifying its presence in the region, deploying over 4,000 Marines and sailors across waters surrounding Latin America and the Caribbean. The move is intended to display military strength while offering the administration expanded options to confront cartel operations.

The Trump administration has maintained a hardline stance against Latin American drug networks, designating multiple organizations as foreign terrorist groups and labeling certain elements as global threats, reflecting a broader strategy to crack down on cross-border criminal activity.
