Trump Expresses Hope for India-Pakistan Peace at Gaza Summit

President Donald Trump spoke at the Gaza peace conference in Egypt. Trump stated that India and Pakistan will now co-exist very well. He took a subtle dig at the Pakistani PM standing right on the stage. The American President also invited the Pakistani Prime Minister to address the summit. In his speech, Shahbaz Sharif credited Trump for preventing a nuclear war between the two nations.
Trump Lauds PM Modi, Predicts Better Ties
American President Donald Trump praised India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. This praise came at the Gaza peace summit held in Egypt. He asserted that India and Pakistan will now get along very well together. Trump then turned towards Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who stood behind him. He looked at Sharif and asked him, “Isn’t that right?”
Pakistani PM Sharif nodded his head in agreement. This gesture brought light laughter from the leaders and media present at the event. A video of this whole exchange is now rapidly trending on social media.
Trump smiled at the cameras during his address. He said, “India is a great country with a very good friend of mine at the top. And they have done a fantastic job. I think Pakistan and India will get along very well together.”
Trump Applauds Pakistan’s Military Leadership
Trump was jointly chairing the Gaza peace summit with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. He complimented Pakistan’s military command. Trump said that regional peace is based on good friends doing excellent work. He made a subtle joke, pointing toward Shahbaz Sharif standing behind. Trump said, “He will help make it possible, right?”
Shahbaz Sharif Credits Trump for Averting Nuclear War
The American President then extended an invitation to the Pakistani Prime Minister. He asked Sharif to address the gathering at the summit. Shahbaz Sharif returned the praise in his speech. He credited Trump with stopping a nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan. Sharif stated, “If this gentleman with his amazing team had not intervened during those four days, the war between the two nuclear nations could have escalated to a level where nobody would have survived to tell what happened.”
Trump Repeats Claim on Ceasefire Credit
Earlier, Trump again took credit for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He claimed it was one of the eight disputes he had resolved. Trump made this assertion at the end of his speech to the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset. Trump has continuously claimed credit since the ceasefire on May 10. However, India has repeatedly clarified its position. The agreement happened after talks between the DGMOs of both armies. No third party interfered in this process.
India Marks Presence at Egypt Summit
India also marked its presence at this significant conference. Kirti Vardhan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs, attended. He participated as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special envoy. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal spoke on X (formerly Twitter). He welcomed this historic peace agreement. Jaiswal expressed hope that it would bring lasting peace to the region.
PM Modi Appreciates Trump’s Peace Efforts
Prime Minister Modi also applauded Trump’s efforts in the Gaza ceasefire plan. He mentioned the release of the last 20 remaining people held hostage by Hamas for two years. Their process of returning home was completed today in the first phase.
Trump signed the Gaza ceasefire agreement with global leaders at the conference. Many Arab and Muslim world countries attended the summit. Trump called the event a new and beautiful day for the Middle East.
