Intense Discussions at Army Headquarters

Nepal is witnessing crucial talks at the Army Headquarters over the formation of a new government. Representatives of the Gen-Z group are holding discussions with the army leadership. Seven members from the youth-led group are present at the headquarters for the ongoing talks. Meanwhile, tensions surfaced outside the HQ as Gen-Z protesters clashed among themselves. The protesters have now proposed the name of Kulman Ghising as interim Prime Minister.

Gen-Z’s Objection Over Talks

Many Gen-Z youths opposed the ongoing meeting inside the Army HQ. They alleged that “the wrong people have been invited for talks.” The youths demanded that these discussions should happen at the Presidential Palace, not within the Army premises. They also insisted that “the President must be present and made accountable during such a crucial dialogue.”

Entry of Karki and Prasai Under Army Security

Earlier, former judge Sushila Karki and businessman Durga Prasai were escorted to the Army HQ under tight security. Both were taken in separate vehicles guarded by the army. According to sources, Sushila Karki’s meeting with the army chief will begin at around 4 pm, after the Gen-Z discussions conclude. The ongoing dialogue between Gen-Z representatives and the military leadership marks the second round of negotiations. Once that is over, Karki and Prasai are expected to meet Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel.

Could This Meeting End the Deadlock?

Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel also held a telephone call with President Ramchandra Paudel. He briefed the President on the current situation and assured him that “the army is continuously working toward a political and constitutional solution.” Sources claim that the army is trying to bring all sides together to resolve the crisis at the earliest. Many believe this round of talks could play a decisive role in ending the ongoing power struggle and paving the way for the formation of a new government in Nepal.

Political Echoes in India

The political turmoil in Nepal has also triggered debates in India. Opposition leaders and voices on social media drew comparisons, claiming that India too faces a similar atmosphere. Responding to this, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, “India’s institutions are very strong. The way people are being served in India makes it clear that the opposition cannot mislead or provoke the public.”
