Gunmen attacked the paramilitary Force (FC) headquarters in Peshawar on Monday morning. Reuters reported that police and security forces rushed to the spot immediately after hearing gunfire. They quickly cordoned off the surrounding area to ensure public safety. Meanwhile, many locals in Peshawar posted on social media platform X about the incident. They mentioned hearing loud sounds resembling bomb blasts coming from the FC headquarters. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has officially claimed responsibility for this attack.
Attack Happened at 8:10 AM
Geo TV reported that the attack on the FC headquarters occurred at 8:10 AM on Monday. Authorities closed Sunheri Masjid Road and security forces surrounded the entire locality. Security officials confirmed that two blasts took place followed by heavy gunfire. This caused panic and chaos in the immediate area. Police and security teams immediately cordoned off the area. Forces successfully killed three terrorists during the retaliation. Security sources stated that a suicide bomber blew himself up at the main gate. Several social media users also shared updates regarding this violent incident.
Rising Terror Incidents in KP and Balochistan
Terrorist incidents have increased significantly in Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan. The TTP ended its ceasefire agreement with the government in November 2022. Since then, the group has claimed responsibility for attacks on security forces and police. Earlier in September, forces foiled a similar attack on the FC headquarters in Bannu district. That clash resulted in six martyred soldiers and five dead terrorists.
