A Historic Defense Pact Between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have entered into a significant military pact similar to NATO agreements. The deal states that any attack on one country will be treated as an attack on both. In a joint statement, the two nations declared that this pact reflects their determination to enhance mutual security and contribute to global peace. The agreement also includes developing stronger defense cooperation between them.

India is closely monitoring this development. The strategic partnership between Riyadh and Islamabad is being seen as a shift that could influence the regional balance of power.

India’s Initial Reaction to the Agreement

India’s Ministry of External Affairs reacted promptly to the defense pact. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that the government was already aware of this development before the official announcement. He added that India will examine the potential impact of the pact on national security, regional dynamics, and global stability.

He emphasized that India is determined to protect its national security and defend its interests under all circumstances. The pact was officially signed in Riyadh by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

What Did the Ministry of External Affairs Say?

Commenting on the pact, Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have seen reports about the signing of a strategic agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The government was aware of the possibility of such a development, which formalizes a long-term arrangement between the two countries. This matter had been under discussion for quite some time.”

He further stated, “We will study the implications of this development on our national security as well as on regional and global stability. The government is committed to defending India’s national interests and ensuring comprehensive security across all sectors.”

The Indian ministry made it clear that the government will analyze this partnership thoroughly. The focus will remain on assessing the possible effects on India’s security and ensuring that the country’s strategic interests remain protected.
