US President Donald Trump has publicly attacked his predecessor Joe Biden calling him a “dishonest politician” after Biden filed a lawsuit against the Department of Justice to block the release of his private audio recordings to Republican lawmakers.

Trump Fires Back at Biden Over DOJ Audio Recording Battle
Donald Trump didn’t hold back on Tuesday. The US president took aim at his predecessor Joe Biden calling him a “dishonest politician” after Biden made a dramatic legal move against the Department of Justice.
Biden filed a lawsuit demanding a permanent court order. He wants to stop Republican members of Congress from getting access to audio recordings of his private conversations. Those recordings were made between 2016 and 2017, during sessions with the ghostwriter behind his memoirs.
Trump posted his sharp two-word verdict on Truth Social. He simply shared a link to the news story about Biden’s legal action followed by one blunt label: “Dishonest politician.”

What Are These Audio Recordings About?
The Department of Justice first got hold of these materials back in 2023. They were part of a broader investigation into how Biden handled classified documents. That probe ultimately found no grounds to bring criminal charges against the former president.
In his lawsuit, Biden argues that releasing these recordings would violate his right to privacy. He also insists that the DOJ had previously agreed to protect those privacy interests a position, he claims, the department has now reversed.
A Shift Under the Trump Administration
According to the lawsuit, things changed once Trump returned to the White House. The DOJ now operating under Trump’s administration shifted its stance and announced in February that it planned to hand over the audio recordings and transcripts to lawmakers. The planned handover date was set for June 15.
Biden’s legal team pushed back hard. They argue the move goes against earlier agreements and sets a dangerous precedent for protecting personal conversations between a president and private individuals.
Trump’s public dig at Biden signals that the political fight over these recordings is far from over. The feud between America’s 46th and 47th presidents continues this time, in the courts.
