US President Donald Trump has firmly pushed back against media coverage claiming his peace proposals to Iran say nothing about nuclear weapons. Trump insists the deal addresses the nuclear issue directly and in great detail.
Trump Hits Out at CNN Over Iran Nuclear Claim
“Fake CNN claimed again today that my deal with Iran on the nuclear program doesn’t even cover nuclear weapons when it clearly states that Iran will have no nuclear weapons,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “The deal also covers other aspects of the nuclear topic in very specific and expanded form. In fact, the bulk of the agreement is devoted precisely to this,” he added.

Intelligence Briefing and a Pending Decision
Trump held an early-morning intelligence briefing at the White House on Friday where he promised a final decision on the Iran situation. American media later reported no final understanding had been reached. On Sunday, the New York Times said Trump had put forward tougher conditions for a possible deal to end the conflict with Iran and passed new proposals directly to Tehran.

What Led to This Standoff
The United States and Israel began striking targets inside Iran on February 28 killing more than 3,000 people. Washington and Tehran announced a ceasefire on April 8. Talks held afterward in Islamabad ended without any breakthrough. No resumption of fighting has been reported but the United States has begun a naval blockade of Iranian ports.
