Controversial Compliment at Gaza Summit

US President Donald Trump stirred controversy while addressing world leaders. This occurred at the Gaza Summit held in Egypt. Trump referred to the Italian Prime Minister as a “beautiful young woman.”

Trump suggested calling a woman beautiful could end a US leader’s political career. He stated that he knew this fact. Despite the risk, he declared he would take the chance. He decided to call Meloni beautiful regardless.

Meloni’s Reaction to Trump’s Words

The 79-year-old Trump made his comments about the 48-year-old Meloni. This happened at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit in Egypt.

Meloni was standing right behind him with other leaders. She was seen smiling at the time. Over 25 countries and international organizations attended the summit.

Meloni was the only woman among the 30 leaders present on the stage. All of them stood behind Trump during his address.

Trump’s ‘Political Risk’ Declaration

Trump addressed Meloni mid-speech. He stated that he wasn’t “allowed to say” this. “If you say it, it’s the end of your political career,” he claimed.

He then continued, “But I will say she’s a beautiful young woman.” He further added a warning. “If you use the word beautiful about a woman in America, your political career is finished.” “But I’ll take the chance,” he reaffirmed.

The US President then turned to Meloni. “You don’t mind being called beautiful, do you? Because you are,” he remarked.

Meloni was observed smiling at his words. Trump continued praising her after the beauty comment. He noted she is “highly respected in Italy.” He also called her a “very successful leader.”

Public Outcry Over the Remark

A video of Trump praising Meloni is trending on social media. Users are quite upset about Trump’s comment on Meloni.

They feel the US President shouldn’t make such remarks. This is especially true towards a female head of state. It happened during a meeting on such a sensitive issue.

Social Media Reacts to the Controversy

One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote a strong opinion. “At a time like this, I don’t think he should have commented on Meloni’s looks. Meloni is a strong and brilliant leader.”

Another female user commented positively. “Meloni is from Italy… she’s strong enough to keep her status high among men even accepting a compliment! She is beautiful!” she wrote. She added that Meloni “made Starmer and Macron uncomfortable just by being who she is.” She concluded, “No one can scowl like Meloni.”

Many people are calling Trump’s comment an “international embarrassment” for the USA. They find it deeply “shameful.”

Another user questioned the comment’s value. “Will talking about the beauty of a female world leader get you a Nobel? This is happening on an important, perhaps historic occasion.”

A different X user shared the video and called it “Disgusting.” They tweeted, “In the middle of his speech in Egypt, Trump called the Italian PM a beautiful young woman. She looked very uneasy. He keeps humiliating America on the world forum.”
