Trump Says He Only Likes Two Oceans

US President Donald Trump joked that Europe would be thrilled if America renamed the Pacific Ocean in its own honor.

“I only like two oceans, the Atlantic and the Pacific. I’m not going to name any other ocean after Trump or America, except these two,” Trump said at a rally in South Carolina.

Google Turned Down His Atlantic Idea

Trump said he had floated the idea of renaming the Atlantic Ocean to Google CEO Sundar Pichai. The tech giant, he claimed, turned him down flat.

According to Trump, Google still hasn’t fully recovered from renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, and wasn’t ready for another change.

The Pacific Ocean Could Become the “American Ocean”

“So I’ll probably skip that one. Should I skip it? Let’s leave the Atlantic Ocean alone. But the Pacific Ocean, we’ll call it the American Ocean. How do you think Europe will feel about that? Do you think they’ll like it? Europe will be delighted, right? Ursula will call and say ‘thank you so much,'” Trump said, referring to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
