Paris Centre Mayor Ariel Weil called the ease of the Louvre Museum Heist unimaginable. He stated this level of robbery was only seen in movies until now.

Daring Robbery at World-Famous Louvre Museum
A completely shocking event took place in Paris, France, on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Masked thieves arrived at the famous Louvre Museum on scooters. They swiftly stole valuable jewels using a disc cutter. The robbers then quickly fled the scene. Most surprisingly, the thieves took only seven minutes for this complete theft. This incredibly short time has left everyone utterly amazed.
The Louvre Museum in Paris is among the most visited museums worldwide. It houses the globally renowned ‘Mona Lisa’ painting. Following the robbery, the museum was closed on Sunday morning, France time.
French Minister Reveals Seven-Minute Execution
According to the French news agency AFP, the incident happened between 9:30 AM and 9:40 AM Sunday morning. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez confirmed the entire operation took a mere seven minutes. He mentioned, “Thieves entered the museum from outside using a cherry picker.” This hydraulic ladder-like machine helped them gain access. “They stole the precious jewels. The entire Louvre Museum Heist was finished in just seven minutes.”
The Minister further stated that three to four people executed this crime. Their target was two display cases in the Gallery of Apollo. “Clearly, the museum was surveyed before this incident,” he added. “This points to the work of a professional team. They specifically used a disc cutter to break the glass.”
Nine Jewels Stolen from Napoleon Collection
Reports from Le Parisien confirmed that nine jewels were stolen. These were part of the Napoleon and Empress’s jewelry collection. A broken piece of a stolen jewel was found outside the museum. This fragment is thought to be from Empress Eugénie de Montijo’s crown.
The report indicates three to four thieves used a basket lift. They reached the gallery from the front area near the Seine River. Construction work was ongoing in that section of the museum. They cut windows with a disc cutter to enter the building. They stole the nine jewels and used the same exit to escape.
Mayor Expresses Shock Over Easy Entry
Reacting to the incident, Paris Centre Mayor Ariel Weil gave a statement. He expressed his shock at how easily the theft occurred at the Louvre Museum. “This is a serious setback,” he declared. “Until now, this was only seen in movies. It is difficult to imagine that a Louvre Museum Heist could be so simple.”
