Belarus Offers Support to Extinguish Forest Fire in Iran’s Chalous Region

Mazandaran Governor Mehdi Younesi Rostami confirms that Belarus is ready to assist in fighting the wildfire in the Elit forest.

International Aid for Mazandaran

Rostami appreciated the concern shown by Belarusian officials regarding the situation in the Elit region. He stated that Mazandaran will utilize Belarus’s firefighting aircraft if the situation demands it. He also noted that arrangements are in place to bring a firefighting aircraft from Turkey.

Collaborative Firefighting Efforts

Rostami stressed that Shina Ansari, Iran’s Environment Head, previously mentioned seeking help from Russia. She said Mazandaran will ask Russia to assist in controlling the Chalous fire. Meanwhile, operations in Elit village continue with full force.

Helicopters and Locals Join Hands

The Governor mentioned that Red Crescent and IRGC helicopters are actively involved. Specialized teams are working alongside local volunteers. Many nature lovers are also helping to save the environment in Chalous County.

Recurring Fires in Elit Forests

The forests in Marzanabad have faced fire incidents in two separate stages recently. The first fire started on November 1, 2025. Emergency forces worked for days to finally put it out.

Current Situation Under Control

The second wave of fire in the Elit forests began on November 15. Three helicopters and emergency teams responded quickly. Rostami confirmed that most of the fire is now contained, with only a small area burning.
