Russia has openly criticized the US and European nations regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Moscow claims Washington and the E3 group caused the current standstill.

Russia Blames Western Powers for Crisis
According to Sputnik, Mikhail Ulyanov provided a grim update. He serves as Russia’s Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna. Ulyanov stated that the Iran nuclear file situation has reached a complete dead end. He holds the European troika responsible for this failure. This group includes the UK, Germany, and France. He also holds the United States accountable for the current mess.
Warnings of Serious Consequences
Ulyanov warned about the newly passed anti-Iran resolution. He said its negative results will become visible very soon. Tehran has already reacted to this move. They warned the IAEA Director General about the fallout. Iran signaled that the Cairo Agreement is effectively coming to an end.
Diplomacy is Fading Away
Western officials claim that diplomatic channels remain open. However, Ulyanov disputes this narrative strongly. He added that despite Western claims that diplomacy is still alive, “thanks to their efforts, diplomacy is practically dead.” The rift between the sides continues to grow wider every day.
Equal Treatment for Nuclear Cooperation
Maria Zakharova also issued a strong statement. She is the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry. She stressed a key point about peaceful nuclear cooperation. Russia believes Iran deserves the same conditions as other states. These rules should apply to all non-nuclear nations under the NPT.
Criticism of the Provocative Resolution
Zakharova described the recent resolution at the IAEA Board. Germany, France, the UK, and the US pushed for this move. She called it a “provocative step” by the Western bloc. She feels it strikes a severe blow to global trust. It damages the IAEA safeguards system. It also harms the broader non-proliferation architecture.
Accusations of Western Hypocrisy
She also pointed out the absurdity of the Western position. These countries spent years violating the 2015 JCPOA deal. They also ignored UN Security Council Resolution 2231. Yet, they now adopt an anti-Iran position. They do this in the name of non-proliferation.
