Apple rolled out the iPhone 17 lineup on September 9, taking over from the iPhone 16 series.

The global launch of the iPhone 17 series has officially taken place, with India included in the rollout. Apple introduced its brand-new iPhone range during the highly anticipated ‘Awe Dropping’ launch event on Tuesday. As is customary, the company adjusted prices of its previous-generation models soon after unveiling the new ones. Following the arrival of the iPhone 17 series, the prices of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have been reduced in India.

The iPhone 16 now starts at Rs. 69,900 for its 128GB storage variant. The 256GB version has been discontinued for this model and is only available in the iPhone 16 Plus. Similarly, the 512GB storage option has been removed entirely from both smartphones.
According to Apple’s official website, the iPhone 16 Plus now begins at Rs. 79,900 in India for the 128GB base model. The 256GB storage variant is currently priced at Rs. 89,900. Buyers can choose from Black, Pink, Teal, Ultramarine, and White color options, and both devices are available through Apple’s online store.
At launch in September 2024, the iPhone 16 was introduced at Rs. 79,900 for the 128GB model, while the 256GB and 512GB versions carried price tags of Rs. 89,900 and Rs. 1,09,900. The iPhone 16 Plus originally started at Rs. 89,900 for 128GB, with the 256GB and 512GB options priced at Rs. 99,900 and Rs. 1,19,900 respectively.

Both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus support dual SIM (Nano+eSIM) configurations and run on the 3nm octa-core Apple A18 chipset. The processor features a six-core CPU, five-core GPU, and a 16-core neural engine, ensuring Apple Intelligence functions are available on these models, similar to the Pro versions.
The iPhone 16 sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with 2,000 nits peak brightness, Dynamic Island, and enhanced Ceramic Shield protection. The iPhone 16 Plus comes with a larger 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel with the same features. Both handsets are IP68 certified for dust and water resistance and come with a newly added action button on the left side.
In addition, both phones include a Camera Control button on the right, which enables zooming, capturing photos, recording videos, and switching between camera functions. For photography, the dual rear camera system offers a 48-megapixel (f/1.6) wide-angle lens with 2x in-sensor zoom and macro mode, paired with a 12-megapixel (f/2.2) ultrawide sensor with autofocus. The rear module also supports Spatial photos and video recording.
On the front, both models are equipped with a 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera. Connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C support.
