The results for the Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections in Maharashtra have been postponed. The vote counting, originally scheduled for December 3rd, will now take place on December 21st.

Key Date Changes for Maharashtra Civic Polls
A significant update has emerged regarding the Maharashtra civic election results. The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has made a key ruling. It has not only postponed the counting date but also extended the effective date for the Model Code of Conduct.
The Nagpur bench of the High Court issued an order confirming the new date. All Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat election results will now be declared on December 21st. The polling for about 20 municipal councils was previously deferred. This happened because related matters were pending before the court. These delayed elections will now be held on December 20th.
High Court Ensures Uniform Result Declaration
A petition requested that all election results be declared simultaneously. The petitioners argued that staggering the results could impact the outcomes of the 20 delayed municipal councils. After hearing arguments from all sides, the High Court bench gave clear instructions. The results for all polls, including those held today, must be announced together on December 21st.
The court also ruled on other key dates. Exit polls can be declared half an hour after the election concludes on December 20th. Furthermore, the Model Code of Conduct will remain in force until December 20th. The court specified that candidates from the cancelled polls will retain their earlier allocated election symbols.
