Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian team on Monday. He hailed their historic win in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Finals. He called the performance one of “great skill and confidence”.

PM Modi shared his joy on the social media platform X. He wrote, “A spectacular win by the Indian team in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Finals. Their performance in the final was marked by great skill and confidence.” He also praised their exceptional teamwork and tenacity. This was evident throughout the entire tournament. “This historic win will motivate future champions to take up sports,” he stated. He offered his congratulations to all the players.
India Clinches Maiden Title
Team India secured their first Women’s World Cup title on Sunday. They defeated South Africa by 52 runs in Navi Mumbai. South Africa chased a target of 299 runs. They were bowled out for 246 in 45.3 overs. Deepti Sharma’s stunning five-wicket haul sealed the victory.
Star Performers and Congratulations
Shafali Verma received the Player of the Match award. She smashed 87 runs off just 78 balls. She also grabbed two crucial wickets.
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also congratulated the champions. He called the ‘women in blue’ the “Champions of the World”. He posted, “Congratulations to the women in blue on their phenomenal triumph in the 2025 Women’s World Cup. Really proud moment for Indian cricket,” on his X handle.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also termed the victory “historic.” “Historic victory. Hearty congratulations to the world champion Indian women’s cricket team! Heartfelt congratulations to the people of the country! You all are the pride of the nation. Bharat Mata ki Jai,” he said on X in Hindi. This 13th edition victory makes India the fourth team to win the global showpiece. They now join Australia, England, and New Zealand in the exclusive champions list.
