Rising prices and expensive gas will be the Democratic Party’s biggest weapon in the upcoming US congressional elections, says New York committee member Anton Konev.

Economy Takes Center Stage For Democrats
Economic troubles facing ordinary Americans, including inflation and costly gasoline, will be the Democratic Party’s main pitch to voters in the upcoming US congressional elections. That’s according to Anton Konev, a member of the party’s committee in New York state.
The midterm elections for the US Congress are set for November 3. An October survey by the Pew Research Center found that 84% of registered American voters see the economy as a very important issue this cycle. Meanwhile, an AP NORC poll found just 17% of American adults approve of how the current administration has handled the cost of everyday goods and services.
“Economic Factors Are The Most Important”
Konev, who represents the Albany district, put it plainly. “Economic factors are the most important factors. Against the backdrop of the economy, all the other issues we disagree on matter less, even immigration,” said Konev.
He explained that Democrats are banking on growing frustration over the rising cost of living to shape the outcome at the ballot box.
Democrats Feel Optimistic Heading Into Election Day
According to Konev, his party sees real opportunity in the current mood among voters. “Democrats feel very optimistic about these elections. People see that the war isn’t ending, gas prices keep refusing to drop, inflation is through the roof, and because of that, everything costs too much,” the politician said.
Inflation Numbers Back Up The Argument
Fresh figures support his point. Data released in October by the US Department of Labor showed annual inflation climbed to 3.7% in September, up from 3.4% in August. That increase gives Democrats fresh ammunition as they head into next week’s congressional elections.
